The Story of Jesus (Jesus' Death and Resurrection)
From SPARK
One-sentence summary
The story of Jesus in simple English for children and adults.
Description
The Story of Jesus is a set of three paperback books. They are one of the easiest to read Bible stories in the world. Each book has some new words. These new words are used several times. The listeners learn these words. There is a list of these new words at the back of each book. By the end of the book, they will know the story. They will also know the words used in the first four books of the New Testament.
The author, Frank C. Laubach, designed the “each one, teach one” system of literacy. In this system each person who learns to read must agree to teach one other person to read.
The second book is about the death and resurrection of Jesus. It has sixty-three pages. The paragraphs are longer in this book. This book has new words listed at the right side at the beginning of a lesson. Chapters end with a Scripture reference.

Considerations
- These books are written in Special English. Special English is a 1,500 word vocabulary of simple English. Each sentence has only one thought. No idioms are used. (An idiom is a phrase or expression that has a different meaning from the regular meanings of the separate words in it.)
- In the second book the paragraphs are longer than in the first book.
- Each lesson has a few new words at the right side which will be used in the lesson.
- Each chapter has a small colored picture that helps explain the lesson.
- As the lessons continue the length of each lesson is longer.
Limitations
- Some pictures show just parts of people or places. This might confuse those who are not picture literate.
- The use of capitals when referring to Jesus might be confusing in some cultures.
