Description

The "Good News" audio-visual presents a quick Bible introduction in forty pictures. The first twenty pictures are from Creation to Christ's resurrection. The second twenty pictures give basic teaching on the Christian life. This audio-visual is designed to bring the good news of Jesus and basic Christian teaching to non-literate people of all ages. The outline of this material includes:

  • Short Bible stories from Genesis through the Ascension.
  • How to become a follower of Jesus

The free online script for "Good News" is a basic guideline for translation and recording in other languages. Written scripts are available online in simple English, French Pigin, Russian, Spanish and Indonesian. The script should be adapted to different cultures and languages to make it relevant to each area where it is used. Some terms and concepts used in the online script may need a fuller explanation or even be omitted in different cultures. Audio recordings of this script are available in over 1200 languages and are designed to be played along with the pictures. Playback may be paused from time to time to give opportunity for questions, discussion and further explanations. The recordings have been made, where possible, using mother tongue speakers with clear voices. These are people who are respected in the local community. Local music and songs are sometimes added between pictures. Various checking techniques are used to ensure the accuracy of translation and communication. The recordings are all available in cassette form. Some are also available on CD, and in MP3 format for downloading.

Considerations

  • Flip charts of the 40 pictures are A3 size (420mm x 300mm or 16.5" x 12"). They are spiral bound at the top. They are suitable for large groups of people of all ages.
  • Booklets of the 40 pictures are A5 size (210mm x 140mm or 8.25" x 6") stapled. They are suitable for small groups and individual use.
  • Picket books of the 40 pictures are A7 (cassette)size (110mm x70mm or 4.25" x3"). They are good for individual use.
  • Filmstrips are 35 mm half frame size. These are available only while stocks last from the USA offices of Global Recordings Network.
  • Flip charts carry bags can be used to hold several flip charts and/or other materials.
  • Picture CDs contain all the pictures from the "Good News as well as the"Look, Listen and Live" and the "Living Christ" picture series. The images are in high resolution black and white. TIFF files for printing (up to A4 size at 300 DPI, and medium resolution color JPEG files for computer display (at 900 x 600 pixels) or printing (up to A8 size at 300 DPI). Scripts and other resources are also on the CD.

Limitations

  • Since thes audio-visuals were written with oral cultures in mind, there are no apparent limitations. They may be adapted to be relevant in any culture.
