Rules for Making Titles

From SPARK

  1. Do a 'search' to see if the same or nearly same title is already on SPARK.
  2. Because links to SPARK pages are case sensitive, it is important that titles of pages use the following capitalization rules:
  • Capitalize the first word of a title.
  • Capitalize the first letter of all words
except
  • articles (a, an, the)
  • conjunctions (and, but, or, nor, because, however)
  • prepositions (e.g., across, at, beyond, by, for, in, of, on, to, toward, up)
  • Hyphenated words do not have a capital after the hyphen (e.g., Audio-visual Products).
  • If using a well-known title that does not follow these rules, use what is well known.
  • Products and proper nouns may keep their established capitalization (e.g. "TnT Ministries" and the story "White-White").
  • Words in parentheses used to describe a title do not need to be capitalized (e.g., "God's Message (uncondensed)").

Note: Sentence-case (not title-case) is preferred for headings within pages.
("Sentence-case" is when only the first letter of the first word and proper nouns are capitalized.)
