Rules for Making Titles
From SPARK
- Do a 'search' to see if the same or nearly same title is already on SPARK.
- Because links to SPARK pages are case sensitive, it is important that titles of pages use the following capitalization rules:
- Capitalize the first word of a title.
- Capitalize the first letter of all words
- except
- articles (a, an, the)
- conjunctions (and, but, or, nor, because, however)
- prepositions (e.g., across, at, beyond, by, for, in, of, on, to, toward, up)
- except
- Hyphenated words do not have a capital after the hyphen (e.g., Audio-visual Products).
- If using a well-known title that does not follow these rules, use what is well known.
- Products and proper nouns may keep their established capitalization (e.g. "TnT Ministries" and the story "White-White").
- Words in parentheses used to describe a title do not need to be capitalized (e.g., "God's Message (uncondensed)").
Note: Sentence-case (not title-case) is preferred for headings within pages.
("Sentence-case" is when only the first letter of the first word and proper nouns are capitalized.)
