Miracle For Samuelito is a true flipchart story. It has six chapters of text and forty colored full-page pictures.

Description

Samuelito dreams of going to school. His family is saving as much as they can to send him to school. Everyone in the family is working to help save money. Samuelito works as a shoe-shine boy at the bus stop near his village. He and his sister also catch lizards and sell them as food.

At the bus stop one day, Samuelito hears a Christian woman from a foreign country explain the colors of a little book. The book does not have any words. The colors of the book tell of God's great love for him. The colors tell how God sent Jesus to die for Samuelito's sins.

As Samuelito thinks about the meaning of this little book his heart is changed. He chooses to become a follower of Jesus. He tells his mother and sister. Then his father finds out! His father is angry about his decision to follow Jesus.

Then his father is seriously hurt and spends a long time in the hospital. This cost money that used all the savings for school. Samuelito prays for a miracle. He prays that his father will get well. He prays that he would still be able to go to school.

The father does get well. Then wonderful news comes that a school is to be built right in their village. Samuelito and other children of his village can go to school. Samuelito learns to read the Bible. He shares the good news of this book with others who will listen.

Considerations

  • The pictures are clear and simple.
  • The colors are bright and true to life in Mexico.
  • The forty pictures are 9” X 14” in size.
  • This flipchart story is available in Spanish.
  • Each chapter has pictures that help explain the story.
  • Chapter one has eight pictures.
  • Chapter two has six pictures.
  • Chapter three has seven pictures.
  • Chapter four has seven pictures.
  • Chapter five has six pictures.
  • Chapter six has seven pictures.

Limitations

  • Some of the pictures show only parts of people or body parts. This might confuse some children. Explanations will be needed.

Guidelines for Use

  • The best use of this story would be as a flipchart story told as six different lessons.
  • The story could be used as an audio book with added sound effects.
  • The script alone might be used as a radio story, told in a series of six programs. Added sound effects would make the radio program more interesting.
  • These forty pictures could be made into a filmstrip. It could be used with the script.
