Children's flipchart story from Niger (Africa)

Description

Madugu is a true story about a young boy from the African country of Niger. He finds a cure for his sore leg. But more meaningful, he finds a cure for his sinful heart. Madugu learns to share the good news of Jesus with his family. He shares his little book with four friends. Then they share the good news of Jesus with their friends.

At the end of the story time, each child should be given:

  • A copy of the Wordless Book
  • A printed bookmark that tells the story of the Wordless Book.

Considerations

  • This story was written for children 4 - 12 years old.
  • All pictures are in color.
  • The story is told in one lesson.
  • Both English and Spanish are printed on the back of each picture.
  • Suggestions are included to help the story teller.

Limitations

  • Some of the pictures show only parts of people. These will need to be explained to children who are not picture literate.
  • Some colors may have a different meaning in non-western cultures.
  • The little Wordless Book attached to the book may differ from the original. It is still usable, but the storyteller needs to use the correct version.
  • The bookmarks assume children or their parents can read.

Guidelines for Use

  • Translate the story into minority languages and use with the flipchart pictures for storytelling.
  • As an audio book or CD with flipchart pictures
  • As a filmstrip
  • In Sunday schools, schools, Bible clubs, or camps
