One-sentence summary

Seven sessions for teaching preschoolers a Biblical worldview.

Description

This curriculum is a way to begin teaching children, 2-5 years old, about missions. They learn this from considering life in their:

  • family
  • neighborhood
  • church
  • community

Each session has enough activities for up to two hours. Sessions may be shortened by using one activity before and one after the story. The Bible story and many activities may be changed for children of different ages. The session subjects are:

  • Near and Far - The story of Jonah
  • Big and Small - Jesus and the children
  • Alike and Different - Philip and the traveler
  • Hands to Serve - The story of Dorcas
  • Hands to Give - The boy who gave his lunch
  • Love Your Neighbor - The Good Samaritan
  • City Folks, Too! - Who lives here?

Considerations

  • For children 2-5 years old.
  • Three-ring notebook that is easy to use for teaching and copying activity pages.
  • Permission has been given to copy any of the activity pages.
  • The curriculum has 98 pages.

Limitations

  • Some language groups may not have the needed supplies.
  • The music for the songs may be unknown in many language groups. Culturally appropriate music could be used.
  • Many activities assume that children understand what reading and writing are for, even though they will not be literate.
  • Children in some language groups may not understand some of the cut-out patterns used in the curriculum. For example:
    • Tall buildings in cities.
    • Fire hydrants
    • Traffic lights
    • Traffic signs

Guidelines for Use

  • As a preschool curriculum in Sunday Schools
