From SPARK

Jump to: navigation, search

Before recording, the recordist must give instructions to the sponsors/language teams. They need to decide who is most suitable to be a speaker. Speakers are an important part of how the message will be received.

Who should select speakers?

  1. Committee
  2. Local committee of believers
  3. Committee comprised of all denominations whenever possible
  4. Translator

Considerations for selecting speakers

  1. Christian testimony
  2. Do they demonstrate Christian character in their community
  3. Acceptable throughout the area
  4. Status
  5. Acceptable to target audience
  6. Chosen according to authority structure so that traditional lines are not violated.
  7. Age
  8. Younger men may not have an understanding of the deeper meaning words in the language.
  9. It might not be culturally appropriate for young men to teach older ones. (Tendency is to select younger men because they speak more clearly, are alert, etc.)
  10. Speaking ability
  11. Voice quality
  12. Sincerity
  13. Expression
  14. Clear enunciation and diction
  15. Tempo, phrasing, volume
