Description

This is one of a series of Trailblazers books for children. It introduces them to Christian heroes who lived in earlier times. Young Kyemap wants to believe in Jesus. He has learned about Jesus from Mr. Grubb, a missionary to the Lengua Indians of Paraguay during the 1890s. If Kyemap believes, he fears the reactions of the witch doctors.

Considerations

  • This is an adventure story that will interest children 8 - 12 years old.
  • The black and white drawings help children understand the living conditions of the Lengua people during the 1890's.

Limitations

  • Most of the pictures show the entire scene. Three of the pictures show only parts of the people and scenes. They may need to be explained to children who are not picture literate.
